Ginger and Maddy met through the February ‘23 iteration of Adrienne Young’s Writing with the Soul workshop (Round Five) and became critique partners soon after.
Oak and Ink was born of Ginger and Maddy’s desire to nourish a virtual community across locations, ages, and genres for all writers seeking support in their work.
Meet the Team
ginger haggerty
Co - Founder, President
Ginger Haggerty is a Co-Founder of Oak and Ink Collective. This year marks three years of writing. A passion that bubbled up following a key question: Would you be interested in writing a book?
This question followed years… no decades of deep love for all things fiction. Fantasy was her first love which spiralled into mystery which progressed into ‘give me an interesting premise and I don’t care what it is.’
Following nearly a decade in New England, by way of growing up in California, she moved to Washington, DC with her wife where she works at a world-renowned research organization, planning private convenings and managing learning networks. By night (and at lunch) she can be found working on her current fantasy (Gods/New Orleans/Shenanigans) or staring into the void of her outline.
When she’s not organizing an event or writing, she can be found gardening, walking her dog, or watching her young daughter grow up way too fast. Ginger can be found on Instagram at @gingerhaggertyauthor.

Co-Founder, Social and Brand Strategy
After a lifetime of scribbling notes in journals and concocting short stories for her college writing courses, Madeleine Finley began drafting her first novel manuscript in September 2020. Maddy joined Ginger as Co-Founder of Oak and Ink Collective in 2024 to continue building and engaging the community that has supported her in her writing journey.
Maddy is a former practicing attorney and lifelong Californian who dreams of snowy winters, never having actually slogged through one in real life. She can often be found guessing the ending of a thriller, watching Bravo, or baking the occasional loaf of bread in an attempt to channel Julia Child.
When not playing with pretty pictures on Canva for the Oak and Ink instagram (or spending time with her husband, son, and dog) Maddy is working on a semi-historical fantasy (Project Moth) that can best be described as Roanoke x Age of Adaline. Maddy can be found on Instagram at @maddywroteit.
