  • Creative Writing 101 with Gotham Writers Workshop

“When I first began writing in 2022, I took a course with the Gotham Writers Workshop called Creative Writing 101. It is a general course that covers fiction, non-fiction, journaling, show vs. tell, and how to enjoy writing. It was a good start for me!” - G

  • The Writers Conservatory

The Writers Conservatory offers skill-specific courses taught by a faculty of authors and publishing professionals with a focus on deep writing craft and practical business sense. Live courses are offered quarterly and all courses are available in the library after they wrap.

  • Writing with the Soul

“This workshop by Adrienne Young (where Ginger and I met!) encourages participants to approach writing from a more internal angle, emphasizing our personal experiences and writing voices rather than focusing on writing technique. The workshop is currently on hiatus but has a waitlist for future sessions.” - M

  • Overcome Writer's Resistance Bootcamp

This online workshop by Monica Hay delves into the psychology and neurology behind many writers’ resistance to the actual act of writing. “It was fascinating (with in depth information and recommendations of neurology resources to further explore) and supportive, reassuring me my blocks weren’t something I am alone in experiencing.” - M

  • 1000 Words of Summer

“One of the first writing challenges I found on the internet, 1000 Words is a yearly free event created and led by Jami Attenberg. It encourages participants to write 1000 words a day for 14 days straight, with a daily email from Jami and other authors with sage advice. It’s worth signing up for the emails alone, which I have saved each year. There is an associated slack channel that opens every year as well.” - M

  • Brandon Sanderson's YouTube Lectures

“Prolific and world-renowned fantasy author Brandon Sanderson regularly teaches a writing course at BYU and has generously videoed and uploaded these lectures to YouTube. They cover a range of writing topics but I found the first one most inspiring - “The product of your writing time is YOURSELF. You are the artwork.”” - M
